EOL CONTINUES TO REDUCE ITS CARBON FOOTPRINT
As one of the UK’s leaders in environmental awareness in industry EOL continues to practise what it preaches by again receiving the endorsement of the Carbon Neutral Company for 2009/2010.
For over 13 years EOL IT Services has been providing a highly-successful service which allows for the reuse of redundant IT equipment for sale to the second user market.
As a result the Essex based company has made a massive contribution to the saving of material resources. Thousands of refurbished PCs, laptops, printers etc. have been reused and countless tonnes of metal, glass and plastics have been saved from the UK’s over stretched landfill sites.
EOL continues to support the improvement of the environment by renewing its “CarbonNeutral®” status for all its collections and deliveries.
EOL IT Services Managing Director Richard Parker said: “We are very aware of the impact of our own activities and that working on a zero landfill policy is not the end of the matter. We needed to address the carbon emissions created by our vehicle fleet and we have done that. I am very pleased that the result is that we have again been designated carbon neutral in those areas of operations.”
This year EOL has chosen to offset its carbon emissions by supporting a solar lighting project in India which reaches areas not served by the electrical grid system and where kerosene is most commonly used for lighting. Not only is the quality of kerosene lighting very poor it also produces high levels of C02 and polluting smoke which gets trapped within homes.
Richard Parker adds “We considered several projects to offset our carbon emissions however we felt that this particular project offered an excellent opportunity to improve the lives of the people in the affected Indian communities by improving conditions for health and local industry.”
