Proud of our Industrious Pupils - Maldon & Burnham Standard
SCHOOL students got an insight into how a business works.
A new business and education link-up got off to a successful start when 24 Year 10 pupils from St Peters High School, Burnham, were guests of Maldon-based business EOL IT Services as part of a new Essex Business Consortium partnership programme between companies and schools.
The scheme aims to make students more aware of what to expect when they enter employment.
During the first of several planned visits to EOL IT Services in Station Road, Maldon, students heard presentations by staff members on what makes a successful company tick.
The pupils were also briefed on recruitment, appraisals and were given tasks to complete. The students, along with deputy headteacher David Cossey, were met and shown around by EOL IT chairman Jan Smith.
She said: “We are very pleased to be working with schools such as St Peter’s because the students of today are the business success of tomorrow."
“In order to succeed in employment, they need to be job-ready and that is what the partnership programme is about.”
Mr Cossey added: “The students had a great time. We want our students to be able to pursue successful careers in the future. To do this, students need to understand the world of work. Days such as this are a great help to them as it helps them appreciate the needs if working life.”
