10 Tips To Help You Get The Best Price For Your Redundant IT Equipment
Laptops
- Ensure they have all the accessories included with the original purchase (i.e. power supply units, external optical drive) plus the battery;
- When stacking laptops in cages or boxes stack them no more than 5 high as the weight can crack the screens;
- It is always better to stack them on their sides as this is the strongest point;
LCDs
- When stacking LCDs ensure that nothing is pressing on the screen – even bubble wrap can leave indentations;
- When disposing of LCDs ensure that they are complete with stands and power supply units (PSUs) where applicable - to establish if an external PSU is required check the back of the monitor to see if the power point is a small hole (which means a PSU is required) or a kettle lead connection;
PCs
- When handling PCs do not lift them by the front plastics as this is the weakest part which can easily snap or crack;
- Ensure that the PC is complete with hard drive, memory etc. in line with the original specification;
Printers
- Do not store printers on their sides or upside down as the ink/toner can leak and cause damage;
- When disposing of printers check to see if you hold any unused toner cartridges as these can also have value.
PDAs/Blackberrys/Phones
- Ensure they have all the accessories included with the original purchase.
