EOL IT Services Ltd have today announced that it has been awarded a contract with Crossrail Limited to provide IT hardware disposal services.

Crossrail Limited, established in 2001, is the company delivering the new railway that will be known as the Elizabeth line when it opens through central London in 2018.  The Crossrail project is now 80% complete, and as the project edges closer toward completion in 2018, the number of IT users will decrease until the end of the programme. During this period, life expired and redundant IT hardware will be disposed of securely in accordance with environmental directives and legislation.

Laura Cooper, Client Services Director at EOL IT Services was extremely pleased with the news. “EOL are rather delighted to have been successful in securing this opportunity to work with Crossrail.  Operating a zero to landfill policy therefore means EOL are best placed to ensure that the disposal of all legacy equipment is managed securely, in conclusion, meeting all of Crossrail’s environmental objectives.  Data security will also be of paramount importance during the lifecycle of this project.”

So who are Crossrail Limited?

Crossrail is Europe’s largest infrastructure project. Stretching from Reading and Heathrow in the west, across to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east, the new railway will cover over 100km of track including 42km of new rail tunnels and ten new stations. From improving journey times across London, to easing congestion and offering better connections, the Elizabeth line will change the way people travel around the capital.  A wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL) it is jointly sponsored by TfL and the Department for Transport. Once the railway is complete it will be handed over to TfL and run as part of London’s integrated transport network.
